Rebecca Cleary

Pronouns: she/her

I am an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics at Colorado State University.  I hold a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from the University of Wisconsin--Madison.  My work focuses on food and nutrition policy; food access, with an emphasis on store strategies and locations; food insecurity; and regional food systems. I am interested in understanding what drives consumers’ food-purchase decisions, why households do not fully adhere to nutrition recommendations, why food stores locate and price food the way they do, and how we can design effective policies to increase nutritional quality, particularly for households most at-risk for diet-related diseases. I am also committed to undergraduate and graduate instruction and teach the introductory course on agricultural and resource economics as well as courses on food and agricultural markets and demand analysis.
